Terms of Service and Legal Notice

Last updated: July 2026.

0. Identification of the controller

Controller: Shield404 — a personal project operated independently from Spain.
Nature: a free, non-profit project, with no advertising or income of any kind.
Contact: contacto@shield404.com

This identification allows anyone to exercise their data rights (GDPR, art. 13) via the contact email, which is handled personally. If a competent authority (Spain's Data Protection Agency, law enforcement, or another body with legal power to do so) requires the controller's full civil identification, it will be provided through the appropriate legal channels.

1. What Shield404 is

Shield404 (accessible at shield404.com and shield404.es) is a free tool that analyses links, messages, phone numbers, and files to help identify possible scams and digital security risks. It is a guidance and support service, not a substitute for certified professional legal, financial, or cybersecurity advice.

2. Use of the service

3. Limits of liability

Important: Shield404 uses an analysis engine based on rules, public lists, and collaboration with specialised third parties. No automated system can detect 100% of existing scams, nor guarantee that something marked "safe" always is. A Shield404 verdict is an aid to your decision, not an absolute certification.

We are not responsible for decisions made based solely on the tool's results. If you have any serious doubt about a possible active scam, we always recommend contacting the relevant authorities (Spain's National Police, Civil Guard, or the INCIBE helpline (017)).

4. Intellectual property

The design, the "Shield404" brand, the logo, and the text on this website are the property of those responsible for it. The source code of the analysis engine is not publicly accessible. You may freely use the results of your own analyses (share them, save them), but reproducing, copying, or redistributing the website's design or content for commercial purposes without authorisation is not permitted.

5. Third-party services

Shield404 relies on specialised external services (antivirus engines, public phishing lists, data-breach services) to complete its analysis. Each of these services operates under its own terms, separate from Shield404.

6. Changes

We may update these terms as needed. Relevant changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date on this same page.

7. Applicable law

These terms are governed by Spanish law. For any dispute, the parties shall submit to the courts and tribunals that correspond under applicable consumer protection regulations.
